Job Title:
Professor in Microelectronics
Join Mines Saint-Étienne, an institution where science and innovation build a more sustainable future. An excellence school where everyone has the opportunity to reveal their full potential and contribute to addressing tomorrow's challenges.
Ranked among the best engineering schools in France and recognized worldwide, our school, a member of the Institut Mines-Télécom, trains the talents of tomorrow while actively contributing to addressing major industrial, digital, and environmental challenges. With us, you join a community of 500 collaborators, 2500 students, and participate in an ambitious project: to combine academic excellence, cutting-edge research, and positive societal impact.
Institut Mines-Télécom brings together the leading French engineering schools around major industrial challenges, digital, energy, and ecological. With its 8 public schools and 2 affiliate schools, it is the first public institute dedicated to engineers and managers. Together, we imagine and build a sustainable future, training the actors who will shape tomorrow's transitions.
Centre Microélectronique de Provence (CMP):
- You said embedded innovation? The CMP is THE place where microelectronics, security, and connected objects intersect.
- Anchored in a hub of excellence – large groups, SMEs, startups, academic partners – our center combines the electronics of the future (flexible, bioelectronics), security of systems, and digital models for the supply chain.
- Here, we design, test, and secure: from embedded systems to critical components.
What we expect from you:
As a Professor in Microelectronics, you are at the heart of our missions in training, research, and innovation assigned to the CMP Research and Training Center located in Gardanne (in the Bouches-du-Rhône, 13). It is one of the five training and research centers of the School. It includes four research departments including the Flexible Electronics Department (FEL) within which the professor position is open.
The FEL department has 25 people, including 7 teaching and research staff, 1 engineer, and 15 postdoctoral and doctoral researchers.
The recruited person must bring internationally recognized expertise in electronics to strengthen our fundamental and applied research skills in the field of the Internet of Things and human-machine interfaces. They must also actively participate in the training of engineers and students in master's programs and develop high-level partnership research.
The main expected missions:
- On the training aspect: Design and conduct innovative microelectronics courses adapted to contemporary challenges to train the leaders and engineers of tomorrow within the ISMIN (Specialization in Microelectronics and Informatics) curriculum and in the international Hybrid Electronics track of the Nanosciences and Nanotechnology Master's program co-accredited with Aix-Marseille University. The candidate must be able to cover a wide range of courses in materials science for microelectronics.
Courses may also concern other programs: ICM (Civil Engineer of Mines) degrees, national master's degrees with an international dimension, engineer training under salaried status, doctoral training, and continuing education. - On the research aspect: Conduct high-impact work on flexible and stretchable electronics, valued by recognized scientific publications, and collaborate with the socio-economic world (industry, services, local authorities…) for innovative and sustainable solutions. The skills expected cover the aspects from material implementation to the realization of prototypes for nomadic applications (e.g., medical devices/implants).
- On the innovation aspect: Actively contribute to cross-disciplinary projects, at the crossroads of several disciplines, in a dynamic environment open to supported collaborations by public and private funds, in France and internationally.
Your ability to work in project mode and to make teaching, research, and practical application dialogue will be essential to succeed.
