Special Education Teacher
The Special Education Teacher provides high quality instruction to students with disabilities. The Special Education Teacher holds valid New York State Special Education Teacher Certification. Knowledge of NYS Learning Standards, Committee on Special Education process, and Individual Education Plan (IEP) goal writing, implementation, and progress monitoring is required. Experience with providing special education students with learning experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth in the least restrictive environment is necessary.
Experience with developing and/or modifying curriculum, preparing lessons, and providing specially designed instruction to address individual student needs is also required. The Special Education Teacher must establish and maintain open communication with parents, students, teachers, and other relevant stakeholders. Flexibility to meet the needs of a range of student learners, in-depth knowledge of effective interventions, and the ability to work effectively with a variety of staff are essential.
Strong communication skills, proven success working with students, and strong organizational and planning skills are also required.
Responsibilities shall include but are not limited to the following:
Differentiate instruction based upon student learning styles; utilize data information systems and engage in data analysis in order to formulate action plans to support students; participate in the Committee on Special Education process, Individual Education Plan (IEP) goal writing, implementation, and progress monitoring. Provide special education students with learning experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth in the least restrictive environment;
develop and/or modify curriculum, prepare lessons, and provide specially designed instruction to address individual student needs; knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding special education and students; ability to engage culturally diverse students; and ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Other duties as assigned by the Building Principal, Director of Elementary or Secondary Special Education, or other district office administration.
The position of Special Education Teacher is a ten-month position. The terms established in accordance with the contract between the Superintendent of Schools and the Victor Teachers' Association. Evaluation is per the contract between Victor Central Schools and the Victor Central Teachers' Association.

Building Principal and Director of Elementary or Secondary Special Education. Salary:
Minimum starting salary $48,502 (negotiable based on experience), as per the Victor Teachers' Association agreement. The VTA contract can be found on the Victor Central School District website under the Human Resources tab.
