Elementary Teacher (Grades K-6)

Wolcott Street School is seeking a dedicated and student-centered Elementary Teacher to join our team for the  school year. The successful candidate will foster a positive learning environment, deliver engaging instruction aligned with New York State Learning Standards, and support the academic, social, emotional, and behavioral growth of all students.

Essential Responsibilities:

Instruction and Curriculum:

  • Plan and deliver high-quality instruction aligned with district curriculum and New York State Learning Standards.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
  • Utilize a variety of instructional strategies, resources, and technologies to engage learners.
  • Assess student progress regularly and use data to inform instructional decisions.
  • Maintain accurate records of student achievement and communicate progress with students and families.

Classroom Environment:

  • Establish and maintain a safe, positive, and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Promote a culture of respect, responsibility, and high expectations.
  • Implement effective classroom management practices that support student success.
  • Foster student independence, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
  • Support the social-emotional development and well-being of students.
  • Collaborate with intervention teams, special education staff, counselors, and related service providers to meet student needs.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of academic and behavioral interventions.

Collaboration and Professional Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, administrators, and families to support student achievement.
  • Participate actively in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), grade-level meetings, and district professional development.
  • Maintain professional competence through ongoing learning and reflection.
  • Fulfill all duties and responsibilities in accordance with district policies and procedures.
  • Establish positive relationships with families and maintain regular communication regarding student progress and classroom activities.
  • Partner with families to support student learning and development.
  • Participate in school and community events as appropriate.
