Location: New York
Under supervision, performs miscellaneous clerical, administrative, research or other work related to the operation of a College or other unit where such work is required on a part‑time basis or for a period of limited duration.
General Duties- Maximum tenure 1040 hours per year.
- Routine clerical work: answer telephone calls, maintain records, operate office machines (copier), sort and distribute mail, issue keys and identity cards, act as messenger.
- Types letters, memoranda, charts.
- Acts as cashier.
- Assists in statistical or research activities: collect, compile, code, enter, run computer reports.
- Clerical library work: sorting, shelving books, data entry into library systems, binding books.
- Assists instructional programs: tutoring in reading and mathematics, speech and hearing therapy, musical accompaniment, distribute/collect physical education equipment.
- Enter and maintain departmental records: inventory control, rosters, directories, schedules.
- Operate computers, software, other electronic equipment.
- Tutor Algebra, Trigonometry, Calculus.
- Provide in‑person individual or small group tutoring on campus.
- Facilitate basic workshops to build skills/increase comprehension as needed.
- Participate in staff meetings and ongoing professional development.
- Respond to e‑mail and phone correspondence from SEEK Academic Manager.
- Maintain complete and accurate records in the database.
- Refer students to other program services such as Academic Coaching or Counseling as needed.
- Demonstrated sufficient skills to perform assigned tasks.
- GPA 3.5 or higher in undergraduate mathematics courses.
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Prior experience tutoring or teaching college students not required but highly preferred.
- Availability to work three days per week in person.
- Ability to tutor Algebra, Trigonometry, Calculus; plus Statistics, Physics, Chemistry is a plus.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including public speaking.
- Knowledge of contemporary academic technology resources for college students.
- Basic understanding of education opportunity programs.
- Demonstrated commitment to support academic success of a diverse student body.
$19.12 per hour
