Summary:

The Department of Sociology at Niagara University seeks a part-time instructor for classes beginning in the Fall 2026 semester. We seek instructors who can teach two or more of the following courses:
Intro to Sociology;
Urban Sociology;
Sociology of Health;
Sociology of Aging;
Organizations;
Research Methods. Daytime teaching availability is preferred, likely on a Tuesday/Thursday schedule. Niagara University Sociology is committed to academic rigor and constructive critical assessment.

Essential Duties:

  • Prepare and execute course syllabi according to university and department standards
  • Maintain class records and attendance
  • Prepare and grade exams and other methods of evaluation
  • Prepare integrative lesson plans that promote student interaction
  • Instructs in a way that stresses sociological themes promoting an awareness of inequality in society
  • Be available for students by email and by appointment to help with any specific problems they might be having with course material.

Required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of norms and standards in the field of Sociology
  • Ability to plan and present material in a concise, clear, and logical manner
  • Ability to work effectively independently
  • Initiative and resourcefulness

Qualification Standards:

Master's Degree in Sociology or a close area of specialization required.
