Teaching Assistant (2 Vacancies) – Strive Program, Pashley Elementary School
The Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake Central School District is seeking two qualified, student-centered Teaching Assistants to support students in the Strive Program at Pashley Elementary School.
Position Summary
The Strive Teaching Assistants will support students within a self-contained special education classroom setting. Working under the direction of the classroom teacher and in collaboration with related service providers, Teaching Assistants will help students access instruction, develop independence, and achieve academic, behavioral, and social-emotional success.
Responsibilities
- Support students with diverse learning, behavioral, and social-emotional needs.
- Assist in implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), behavior intervention plans, and classroom accommodations.
- Provide instructional support to individual students and small groups under the direction of the classroom teacher.
- Assist students with transitions, daily routines, organization, and classroom participation.
- Foster student independence, self-regulation, and engagement in learning activities.
- Collaborate closely with special education teachers, related service providers, and building staff to support student success.
- Help maintain a safe, structured, and positive learning environment.
Qualifications
- New York State Teaching Assistant Certification is required or eligibility for certification.
- Experience working with elementary-aged students preferred.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative team.
