We are seeking a College/Career Readiness Specialist to support seniors in the college application process and provide guidance to students, faculty, parents, and community representatives. The role focuses on ensuring students meet all college entrance and career readiness requirements and enhancing success post‑high school.
Responsibilities- Develop and implement college transition and postsecondary programming for 12th grade seniors.
- Guide students in grades 9-11 through the college and career exploration process, including pre‑college summer programs and internship opportunities.
- Provide direct individual and group college advisement.
- Participate in regular meetings with school staff on college and career readiness.
- Coordinate day and overnight college visits and in‑school presentations from college and post‑secondary institutions.
- Act as liaison with college admission offices and deepen connections with institutions.
- Assist in organization and attendance of the school’s annual college fair and other admissions events.
- Assist students with SAT preparation, registration, and scholarship search.
- Provide workshops and support regarding financial aid, FAFSA, and scholarship applications.
- Manage a caseload of students and mentor them throughout the year.
- Maintain relationships with admissions officers and attend professional development to remain current on college trends.
- Plan and implement outreach and meetings for alumni to support transition to college life.
- Participate in staff training, meetings, retreats, and professional development.
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in Social Sciences, Education Policy, or related field (e.g., MSW, M.Ed, M.P.A.) is a plus.
- Minimum 1 year of experience working with youth and families; school setting experience preferred.
- Minimum 1 year of experience collaborating with community‑based organizations to serve at‑risk youth.
- Experience with postsecondary readiness programming, including college exploration, assessments, goal setting, and curriculum development.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to approach challenges in a supportive and creative manner.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Flexible schedule with willingness to work school hours (8:00 AM–4:00 PM) and occasional weekends/evenings.
