The Early Childhood program seeks instructors to teach courses for the Fall 2026 and/or Spring 2027 semesters. Adjunct faculty are expected to bring both academic expertise and relevant field experience to support the professional growth of a diverse student population committed to advancing early childhood education.
The Child Development Associate (CDA) program at CUNY School of Professional Studies (CUNY SPS) prepares current and aspiring early childhood educators to meet national CDA credential requirements while strengthening their knowledge of child development, family engagement, health and safety, observation and assessment, and developmentally appropriate practice. Serving a diverse workforce across New York City and New York State, the program emphasizes practical application, reflective practice, and culturally and linguistically responsive teaching.
Through flexible online learning, students gain the competencies needed to support high-quality early learning environments and advance along career pathways in the early childhood education profession.
The Master of Arts in Early Childhood Policy and Leadership at CUNY School of Professional Studies (CUNY SPS) prepares current and emerging leaders to drive systems-level improvement in early childhood education. The program integrates research, policy analysis, organizational leadership, workforce development, advocacy, and program administration to address the complex challenges facing young children, families, and the early childhood workforce. Designed for professionals working across education, government, nonprofit, and community-based settings, the program equips graduates with the knowledge and leadership skills needed to influence policy, lead innovative initiatives, and advance equitable outcomes for children and families.
QUALIFICATIONSMinimum Qualifications:
- Adjunct Lecturer:
Must possess a baccalaureate degree and such other qualifications as may be necessary for the satisfactory performance of his/her instructional functions - Adjunct Assistant Professor:
Must have obtained the Ph.D. degree or an equivalent degree from an accredited university. Demonstrated satisfactory qualities of personality and character, evidence of significant success as a teacher, interest in productive scholarship or creative achievement, and willingness to cooperate with others for the good of the institution
Preferred Qualifications:
- For Adjunct Lecturer, a master’s degree is preferred
- Adjunct Lecturer: $112.50/hr
- Adjunct Assistant Professor: $120.83/hr
* Rates for eligible employees will be adjusted by 3.5% effective 9/1/26, in accordance with the terms of the PSC-CUNY collective bargaining agreement.
