We are looking for candidates who are hardworking, flexible, and innovative as well as able to embody the IAL traits of leadership in their daily work (honesty, integrity, responsibility, caring and restraint).
Reports to: Dean of Culture
Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in related fields is required; a Master’s degree is preferred.
- 3+ years of experience working with youth or teaching in an urban school setting.
- Experience working with students with diverse backgrounds and needs.
- Experience and general understanding of educational administration.
- Training in and knowledge of behavioral management techniques.
- Experience and/or training with restorative practices.
School Culture and Climate Maintain Positive School Culture Amongst Students
- Work in partnership with the school leadership teams to establish a positive, structured, achievement-oriented, positive school culture.
- Be highly present and visible during all school hours and activities, especially during arrivals and dismissals, relentlessly ensuring that policies are maintained while promoting a positive culture amongst staff and students.
- Proactively circulate throughout classrooms and hallways during the day to gain valuable insights on student behavior.
- Provide oversight and management of lunch and recess personnel as needed, ensuring a safe, organized, and enjoyable environment for students during these times. This involves coordinating lunch schedules, maintaining supervision standards, and implementing policies and procedures that support a positive student experience.
- Utilize the Collaborative Problem Solving Plan B approach by helping staff identify the lagging skills necessary for individual students’ success.
- Maintain all systems of behavior intervention that exist within the school which includes, but is not limited to; attendance, lateness, cell phone, uniform, response to infractions of the disciplinary code. When a policy does not exist, the team works with the Director of School Culture to establish the policy.
- Create behavior intervention plans for all students who consistently violate the following policies, but is not limited to; attendance, lateness, cell phone policy, uniform, response to infractions of the disciplinary code. The deans will work in collaboration with the SST to create and implement these plans.
- Monitor the data from all systems and all interventions that include, but are not limited to; attendance, lateness, cell phone policy, uniform, response to infractions of the disciplinary code. The deans will share this data with the school leadership team and SST in regular meetings and offer suggestions for improvement where appropriate.
- Oversee all systems of intervention and behavior consequences which include, but are not limited to; suspensions (in-school and out of school), restoration, and mediations.
- Maintain accurate records of all systems and interventions and ensures compliance with all documents related to behavior incidents, behavior interventions and consequences.
