Position Details
The Academic ESL Program Specialist supports the academic and administrative operations of ESL programs while also assisting with instructional support, curricula development, and recruitment and advisement of both local and international students. This position works closely with students, faculty, and staff to support student success, coordinate program activities, and ensure effective ESL instruction and program delivery.
The specialist is expected to assist with the development, planning, revision, and implementation of ESL curriculum, course materials, assessments, and syllabi for different proficiency levels.
Duties and Responsibilities- Coordinate and support daily operations of the ESL program and related academic activities
- Assist with student registration, placement, enrollment, orientation, and record maintenance
- Provide academic and administrative support to ESL students, faculty, and staff
- Provide temporary support to ensure continuity of ESL program services, as needed
- Develop, revise, and organize ESL curricula, syllabi, lesson materials, and assessments for multiple proficiency levels
- Assist faculty and program leadership with curriculum planning, instructional improvement, and academic program development
- Support recruitment, retention, and outreach efforts for ESL and international student programs.
- Plan and develop digital marketing campaigns
- Assist with planning and coordinating workshops, events, and student activities
- Communicate effectively with students, instructors, parents, and external partners regarding program information and services
- Maintain confidentiality of student records and comply with institutional policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with faculty and administrative staff to support program growth and continuous improvement
- Perform other related duties as assigned
- This position may require work outside of standard business hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
Bachelor's degree and four years of related experience required or master's degree and two years of related experience.
Preferred Qualifications- Master’s degree in TESOL, Applied Linguistics, Education, or related field
- Minimum of five years of teaching college-level or adult ESL courses in an academic setting
- Experience developing ESL curricula, instructional materials, and syllabi across all CEFR levels
- Ability to work effectively with students from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds
- Experience with curriculum design and proficiency in creating reliable formative assessments, placement testing, and program assessment
- A track record of success with recruitment, outreach, marketing and student engagement activities
- Familiarity with data software, SEVIS, and Xen Direct to deliver seamless customer service experience
- Bilingual or multilingual;
Mandarin and Spanish preferred
- Administers a College's English as a Second Language (ESL) program.
- Supports the design and delivery of the ESL program to ensure high quality academic development and delivery of language teaching and learning
- Oversees the daily management of ESL courses; may also be involved in other language courses
- Assists with program development, market needs assessment, customer development, and outcome evaluation as well as student recruitment, enrollment, and retention
- Advises students on program requirements
- Prepares analytical and statistical reports for management
- Develops and maintains relationships with various College offices to improve student and faculty services; may perform community outreach to targeted populations
- May recruit and review instructional staff
- May supervise office operations and/or department budget including grants
- Performs related duties as assigned.
Salary: $68,364 - $74,490, commensurate with education and experience.
