The Culinary Arts Program at Kingsborough Community College seeks adjunct faculty with a history of significant industry and teaching experience to join our team. We are looking for talented professionals who have a passion to teach and want to share their knowledge with students. Successful candidates will be committed to teaching in a multicultural environment and welcome the opportunity to work with students with diverse learning needs.
The Kingsborough Culinary Arts Program is recognized for its leadership in Culinary Arts study and workforce training in the New York Metropolitan area. Kingsborough Community College is located in Manhattan Beach, Brooklyn, adjacent to Sheepshead Bay with a diverse student population.
Duties Include:Teach both lab and lecture courses within the Culinary Arts curriculum, including, but not limited to introductory and advanced baking and pastry arts, patisserie, chocolate and sugar confections, artisan breads, cake decorating, culinary arts, food service management, and food safety and sanitation. Create, develop and present curricula and course materials including lectures and assignments. Administer and evaluate student work, including assignments, exams, and lab performance.
Participate in adjunct faculty meetings and trainings, as required. Day, evening, and weekend teaching may be required based upon the needs of the Program.
- Strong fundamental and technical baking and pastry skills
- Specialty skills and experience with chocolate and sugar confections, artisan bread baking, and cake decorating
- The ability to communicate professionally and effectively, both verbally and electronically, with colleagues, students, and the community
- Excellent organization, time management, and interpersonal skills
- The ability to teach both lecture and lab courses

QUALIFICATIONSBachelor’s degree in area(s) of expertise, and the ability to teach successfully. Applicants should have a minimum of five (5) years of post‑degree employment in Baking and Pastry. Higher education teaching experience, with a strong record of teaching, is strongly preferred. Current NYC Food Handler’s License and Serve‑Safe Food Safety Certificate is required.
COMPENSATION$112.50 - $142.94 per hour.
$116.44 - $147.94 per hour starting on September 1st, 2026.
Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.
