Main Purpose Of RoleThis role is part of Léman Manhattan’s vibrant, collaborative learning community, which delivers an engaging and academically rigorous program for all students. - Demonstrates knowledge of content and pedagogy
- Plans and executes lessons that differentiate the needs of our students
- Assesses students, maintains records (including curriculum maps), and writes report cards
- Coaches two competitive team sports per year in the Lower School or Upper School
- Utilizes learning management and student information systems provided by the school
- Communicates effectively with parents, students, school administrators and community partners, including attending parent teacher conferences
- Maintains a visible presence in all areas of the school and promotes cooperation and cohesion among all Divisions
- Maintains professional environment that is safe, inclusive and creates positive learning environment
- Collaborates positively and respectfully with members of the Physical Education Department as well as the whole school community
- Engages in other responsibilities and duties assigned by Director of Athletics
- Presents a positive role model for students that supports the mission of the school; demonstrates behavior that is professional as identified in Employee Handbook (inside and outside of school)
- Continues to grow professionally by participating in educational opportunities, reads professional publications, and participates in professional organizations
- Demonstrates flexibility and a positive attitude toward new challenges and growth opportunities
- Participates in school-wide events; attends during and after-school functions in support of school community
- Completes a minimum of two duties as assigned by Division Head (number of duties may vary depending on role)
- Attends and participates in all required faculty and staff meetings and serves on school committees as required
- Completes responsibilities as assigned by Division Head or direct supervisor based on student and school needs (e.g. test proctoring)
- Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s Degree (at least one degree must be in Physical Education)
- At least 3 years teaching experience in Physical Education in high performing school
- A passion for teaching and learning
- A passion for working with children, and creating a student-centered learning environment
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
- Positive, high energy approach to the role
- Demonstrated ability to work well in a team environment
