Adjunct Lecturer, Slavic Job Description

The Slavic Department at Barnard College seeks a part-time instructor to teach the following two undergraduate courses during the  academic year.

Teaching Responsibilities
  • Spring 2027: RUSS
    3221UN Literature & Revolution (20th cent. lit.) – The revolutionary period ) in Russia was not only one of extreme social upheaval but also of exceptional creativity. In this course we will study a variety of media and genres (poetry, manifestos, film, painting, photomontage, the novel, theoretical essays) in an effort to gain a deep understanding of this complex and fascinating period in Russian cultural history.

    Pay Rate: $14,000
  • Spring 2027:
    One three‑point course in Slavic literature and culture – of special interest are courses that include multiple regions of the Slavic world as well as courses incorporating film and media studies. Pay Rate: $14,000

Exact instructional assignments and other academic responsibilities are determined by the Chair or Director.

Qualifications
  • Terminal degree in a related discipline, with all requirements for the degree completed by the time of hiring offer.
