Position: Teaching Artist – STEP
Location: New York

Status

Sundog is actively seeking teaching artists for the school year  in the following discipline: STEP Dance. The Teaching Artist – STEP reports to the Arts Education Manager.

Job Responsibilities

Sundog Theatre is looking for versatile and flexible teaching artists who are excited to be part of a creative team. Applicants should have experience working with youth. The ideal candidate will possess good classroom management skills. This is a part‑time position during school hours or after school from 2‑4 pm.

Job Requirements and Qualifications

Teaching artists should be proficient in their own fields of art and be able to teach their discipline(s) to young people that range from K–12th grades. Excellent classroom management and organizational skills required. Must be able to create and implement successful lesson plans incorporating NY State Learning Standards and the NYC Blueprints for Teaching & Learning in the Arts. Experience teaching K–12th grade range.

Experience in NYC schools is preferred. Applicants should possess good interpersonal skills and be able to collaborate effectively with classroom teachers. Experience with District 75/special needs children and English Language Learners is desirable but not required. Being bilingual is desirable but not required.

Education Requirements

It is preferred that applicants possess at least a Bachelor’s Degree in an arts/related field or have relevant experience teaching an art form(s).

Compensation

Starts at $50 per hour, based on experience.
