Position: Qualified Learning Assistant, including Notetaker, Reader, Exam Proctor, and Bilingual/Multilingual Proctor
Employment Type: Part-Time, Hourly
Location: Hunter College (68th/ Lex)
Compensation: $16.50 per hour
Hours: Flexible scheduling between 9:00 AM and 6:00 PM, up to 20 hours per week

The Hunter College Office of AccessABILITY is seeking reliable, detail-oriented individuals to support students with disabilities through note taking, reading, and exam-proctoring services. Qualified Learning Assistants help ensure students receive equal access to instructional materials and assessments while maintaining confidentiality, academic integrity, and a professional testing environment.
Primary ResponsibilitiesDepending on assignment, responsibilities may include:
- Attending classes and producing clear, accurate, and organized notes.
- Reading exam questions, textbooks, or course materials aloud in a clear and neutral manner.
- Monitoring students during exams and maintaining a quiet, secure, and distraction-reduced environment.
- Setting up testing spaces and distributing, collecting, counting, and securing exam materials.
- Recording exam start and end times and maintaining accurate testing records.
- Managing student check-in, foot traffic, permitted breaks, and general testing-room procedures.
- Assisting students with approved accommodations, including extended time, breaks, alternate formats, reading, or scribing.
- Providing reading, scribing, or other approved support in a second language when assigned.
- Assisting with filing, data entry, scheduling, and organization of testing materials.
Communicating promptly with Testing Center staff regarding scheduling, incidents, or student needs.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Reliable, punctual, patient, and highly attentive to detail.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, fairness, neutrality, and academic integrity.
- Ability to work independently and follow established testing procedures.
- Experience in education, note taking, tutoring, customer service, or exam proctoring is helpful but not required.
- Bilingual or multilingual applicants, including Spanish, Italian, French, Mandarin, or other languages, are encouraged to apply.
Training will be provided regarding testing procedures, accessibility, and approved accommodations.
Current Hunter College StudentsCurrent Hunter College students who are hired must sign a confidentiality agreement and may not proctor examinations for courses in which they are enrolled or for students they know.
