Job Description & How to Apply Below
Position: Learning Center Director, Alpha - $200,000/year USD
Location: New York

Location:

On-site at an Alpha campus in New York City, NY;
San Francisco, CA; or Miami, FL — relocation assistance available. Salary: $200,000 annually. Position: full-time.

Traditional elementary schools reduce expectations when children fall behind. You do the opposite. You believe six-year-olds can achieve far more than conventional classrooms demand, and you have used measurable outcomes to demonstrate this repeatedly.

Alpha operates on a two-hour learning framework. Adaptive software handles academic instruction each morning, freeing your time for what truly transforms a child: coaching, accountability, motivation, and life skills development. You directly manage a cohort of K-3 students while guiding the adults—called Guides at Alpha—who support their daily advancement. You remain actively involved each day, not supervising remotely from a separate office.

Your typical day rotates through three core activities. You analyze performance metrics and Coachbot data to identify which students and Guides need support. You conduct coaching sessions that conclude with concrete action steps rather than general encouragement. You lead engaging workshops for five- to nine-year-olds on topics like public speaking, concentration, or how to give and accept feedback.

When you identify effective methods, you document them. The frameworks you create set the benchmark that all other Guides implement, expanding your influence from a single cohort to the entire grade level. Demonstrating you can replicate this excellence is your path to larger leadership roles within the organization.

If you view lowering standards as compassion, this role is not for you. If you see raising them as a sign of respect, we want your application.

What You Will Be Doing
  • Guiding Guides and students through performance metrics, classroom observation, and clear feedback while maintaining accountability to quantifiable objectives for both groups
  • Leading one-hour interactive workshops for K-3 students covering life skills including public speaking, concentration, teamwork, resilience, accountability, and feedback exchange
  • Conducting individual and small-group motivation sessions that link each child's aspirations and interests to tangible academic advancement
  • Developing and refining operational playbooks that convert your most effective practices into scalable systems other Guides can apply reliably
  • Preparing Guides on these playbooks and demonstrating excellence in workshop facilitation to maintain standards as the team expands
What You Won’t Be Doing
  • Providing academic instruction or presenting lectures; adaptive technology handles content delivery while you focus on coaching people
  • Reducing expectations in response to student difficulties
  • Managing from afar like traditional instructional coaches and principals; you remain directly embedded with your cohort every day
  • Managing the full campus budget, operations, and parent communications; a Campus Lead handles those responsibilities so you can concentrate on student and Guide results
  • Advocating for traditional teaching approaches or implementing a standard K-12 curriculum
