Our World Neighborhood Charter Schools is seeking a passionate and dedicated Spanish Teacher to join our instructional team. The Spanish Teacher will create an engaging and inclusive classroom environment where students develop language proficiency, cultural awareness, and confidence in communication.
The ideal candidate will foster a love of language learning while supporting the academic and social development of students. This role requires a commitment to high expectations, strong instructional practices, and collaboration with colleagues to support student success.
Qualifications EducationNew York State Teaching Certification in Spanish (World Language) required or in progress.
TESOL or dual certification is a plus.

ExperienceMinimum 2 years of teaching experience required

2–5 years teaching experience in an urban school setting preferred

Experience working with diverse student populations is highly valued.

Instruction & Student EngagementPlan, prepare, and deliver engaging Spanish language lessons aligned with New York State World Language Learning Standards
.
Develop instructional materials and activities that promote language acquisition, communication skills, and cultural understanding
.
Use a variety of instructional strategies such as direct instruction, discussion, projects, and collaborative learning
.
Incorporate listening, speaking, reading, and writing activities to build comprehensive language proficiency
.
Design and administer assessments to measure student progress and mastery of language skills
.
Differentiate instruction to support students with varying learning styles and language abilities.
Classroom & School CultureMaintain a structured, respectful, and organized classroom environment that supports learning.
Communicate and reinforce high academic and behavioral expectations for all students
.
Promote cultural awareness and appreciation through language instruction.
Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues regarding student progress.
Support grade-level and school-wide initiatives and activities.
Professional ResponsibilitiesCollaborate with colleagues, instructional coaches, and school leadership to strengthen instructional practices.
Participate in professional development, team meetings, and school-wide initiatives

Work collaboratively with teaching assistants or support staff to meet the needs of individual students.
Salary Range: $72,562 – $115,136 based on education, certification, years of relevant experience, and verified prior service, in alignment with the OWNCS salary scale.
Employees with 30 credits beyond a master’s degree (MA +30) may be eligible for additional compensation in accordance with the salary schedule.
ScheduleThis is a 10-month instructional position
, with salary and benefits distributed evenly over 12 months to ensure consistent income and year-round coverage.
