About The OpportunityConcorde Education is seeking knowledgeable and engaging English tutors who are interested in providing instructional services for after‑school academic support programs at partner schools. These programs help students strengthen reading, writing, vocabulary, grammar, communication, and overall literacy skills through structured, supportive instruction designed to build confidence and academic success. This posting is intended to identify qualified professionals who may be considered for future independent contractor instructional assignments as opportunities become available.
AssignmentScope
Assignment details vary by school and may differ in grade level, schedule, duration, student enrollment, student learning needs, and instructional objectives. Depending on the specific assignment, tutors may provide instruction in areas such as:
- Reading comprehension and fluency
- Foundational literacy skills
- Vocabulary development and academic language
- Grammar, sentence structure, and writing mechanics
- Paragraph and essay writing
- Revising, editing, and written communication
- Study skills, organization, and test preparation
- Academic discussion and critical thinking
Tutors are expected to deliver engaging, organized instruction while maintaining a safe, inclusive, and appropriately supervised learning environment that aligns with school expectations and Concorde Education program standards.
Responsibilities- Provide engaging, age‑appropriate tutoring for individual students or small instructional groups.
- Deliver structured lessons using approved curriculum, provided instructional materials, or assignment‑specific learning objectives.
- Differentiate instruction to accommodate varying student abilities, learning styles, and academic needs.
- Foster a positive, encouraging learning environment that promotes confidence and academic growth.
- Monitor student participation and progress through ongoing observation and informal assessment.
- Communicate professionally with designated school personnel and Concorde Education representatives regarding attendance, scheduling, and program needs.
- Follow all applicable school policies, site procedures, safety expectations, and emergency protocols.
- Arrive prepared and on time for scheduled instructional sessions.
- At least 60 completed college credits (or equivalent relevant educational or instructional experience where appropriate for the assignment)
- Strong English language arts knowledge appropriate for the assigned grade level
- Experience teaching, tutoring, mentoring, or supporting school‑age students
- Strong communication, instructional, and classroom management skills
- Reliable, professional, and organized work habits
- Certified teachers and substitute teachers
- Reading specialists and literacy educators
- College or graduate students studying education, English, literacy, or related fields
- Tutors and academic intervention professionals
- Writers, editors, and communication professionals
Curriculum, instructional materials, lesson objectives, and tutoring expectations vary by assignment.
