Position Summary/
Purpose:
Create a positive, student-centered learning environment that recognizes all students’ unique needs by combining character education with a critical‑thinking curriculum.
- Teach Regents Earth Science and conduct required lab work.
- Observe and evaluate students’ performance relative to NYS P‑12 Science Learning Standards.
- Use explicit instruction techniques: clear learning targets, modeling, guided practice, and frequent checks for understanding.
- Differentiate instruction for diverse academic, linguistic, social, and emotional needs, including students with disabilities and English Language Learners.
- Increase student engagement through voice and discussion.
- Establish a classroom culture grounded in restorative practices, emphasizing relationships, accountability, and community.
- Provide a nurturing, supportive environment with high expectations that encourages responsibility and leadership.
- Employ formative and summative assessments to monitor progress, inform instruction, and provide timely feedback.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and stay current on educational topics.
- Collaborate with administrators, department chairs, and colleagues to promote student achievement.
- Serve as an active member of the professional learning community district‑wide.
- Embrace the district’s vision of educating the whole child.
- Leverage technology in the classroom.
- Maintain excellent verbal and written communication skills.

- Maintain accurate, up‑to‑date records of student performance and progress.
