Position Summary/

Purpose:

Create a positive, student-centered learning environment that recognizes all students’ unique needs by combining character education with a critical‑thinking curriculum.

• Teach Regents Earth Science and conduct required lab work.
• Observe and evaluate students’ performance relative to NYS P‑12 Science Learning Standards.
• Use explicit instruction techniques: clear learning targets, modeling, guided practice, and frequent checks for understanding.
• Differentiate instruction for diverse academic, linguistic, social, and emotional needs, including students with disabilities and English Language Learners.
• Increase student engagement through voice and discussion.
• Establish a classroom culture grounded in restorative practices, emphasizing relationships, accountability, and community.
• Provide a nurturing, supportive environment with high expectations that encourages responsibility and leadership.
• Employ formative and summative assessments to monitor progress, inform instruction, and provide timely feedback.
• Participate in ongoing professional development and stay current on educational topics.
• Collaborate with administrators, department chairs, and colleagues to promote student achievement.
• Serve as an active member of the professional learning community district‑wide.
