Assistant Principal

Experience in teaching and/or administration totaling at least five (5) years

Valid New York State Certification: SAS, SBL or equivalent

Responsibilities:

The Assistant Principal works in a team approach with the Principal providing educational and managerial leadership in all areas of policy, procedure and philosophy of the school. The Assistant Principal is in charge of the administration and management of the school in the absence of the Principal and performs the following duties:

  • Consults with teachers on discipline
  • Discusses student problems with guidance counselors when deemed
  • Interviews and counsels students regarding the effect of their behavior on their educational experience and the total school community.
  • Conducts and/or participates in teacher/parent conferences regarding student
  • Referral of students to the school psychologist in cases deemed
  • Maintains files of the discipline records of all
  • Responsible for the organization and supervision of
  • Responsible for the registration of all student
  • Serves as Chairperson of the District Safe and Drug Free Schools
  • Responsible for teacher attendance and the implementation of teacher substitutes in collaboration with the teacher aide/sub coordinator.
  • Works with the Principal in conducting evaluations, classroom observations and professional growth.
  • Responsible to oversee the school's attendance procedures and Serves as Chairperson of the Student Attendance Review Committee.
  • Serves as the coordinator of student
