Position Summary
This position serves as an After school Program Educator for the Cornell Cooperative Extension Association of Jefferson County, supporting the 4‑H After school Program. Educators may be assigned to one of several school districts and provide comprehensive 4‑H youth development opportunities for students in grades K‑12.
Position Details• Part‑time, non‑exempt; 20 hours per week.
• Hourly rate: $20.00 per hour.

- Program Delivery, Evaluation, and Applied Research (90%)
- Utilize established program resources to provide information and support to participants.
- Teach existing educational programs in science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM).
- Assist the After‑School Program Coordinator in lesson‑plan development and teaching of innovative programs.
- Collaborate with school personnel to integrate intentional instruction and address participants’ interests.
- Provide staffing and/or programming coverage for other 4‑H after‑school programs.
- Serve as a team member, cooperating with Association staff to achieve program goals.
- Implement evaluation procedures as designed by outside evaluators and the New York State Education Department; collect and interpret evaluation data.
- Administrative Responsibilities – Coordination/Operation (5%)
- Assist with program projects and outreach as directed by the After‑School Program Coordinator.
- Organize program resources and materials.
- Provide administrative assistance for marketing, promotion, and report completion, including print, news, social media, and multimedia efforts.
- Communicate effectively with parents and maintain professional relationships with external agencies and businesses.
- Assist with transportation of participants, materials, or resources when required.
- Professional Improvement and Other Duties (5%)
- Participate in required SACC and OCFS licensing trainings.
- Collaborate on a professional development plan with supervisors or executive staff.
- Attend staff meetings, report expenses, engage in general marketing of Extension programs, and perform other duties as assigned.
- Support a safe working environment in accordance with applicable safety policies and regulations.
- Associate’s Degree or equivalent education (e.g., GED/High School Diploma plus one year of transferable/program experience).
- Relevant experience related to the role.
- Valid New York State Driver’s License with ability to meet travel requirements.
- Ability to meet School Age Child Care (SACC) and Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) licensing requirements, including TB test, physical exam, and training.
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required.
- Familiarity with subject matter pertinent to 4‑H Youth Development.
- Demonstrated initiative, reliability, and dependability.
- Proven ability to organize, implement, and teach informal educational programs.
- Effective communication skills (oral, written, visual).
- Competence in utilizing computer technologies for educational and communication purposes.
- Experience working collaboratively in a professional team environment.
