Job Description
To supervise and instruct students in the absence of a teacher to ensure the continuity of student learning and maintaining classroom order.
Qualifications- Must have completed Student Teaching and have a recommendation from supervising teacher and/or student teacher advisor; OR
- Must have a Bachelor's degree.
- Must be fingerprinted through the NYS Dept. of Education.
- Substitutes who have completed their student teaching and are working towards certification (taking college coursework) at a rate of not less than six semester hours per year may work unlimited days.
- Substitutes without a valid certification and who are not working towards certification can work a maximum of 40 days per school year. The actual number of days permitted depends on current NYS Dept. of Education Guidelines.
