Job Description About NORYAt NORY, we design learning journeys where every child in NYC and Boston becomes a risk-taking entrepreneur, an inquisitive problem solver, and an empathetic leader. We are the largest STEM camp provider in NYC, serving 4,000+ campers annually. We hold every project, every lesson, and every teacher interaction to the highest bar in maker education. Dive into our world at and watch this video:
The RoleWe are looking for an educator who can imagine a STEM project, build it with their own hands, write the lesson plan, train the teachers, and then show up at the campsite to coach those teachers through delivering it. The work spans the design studio and the classroom. If you are a maker, a curriculum builder, and a teacher coach in equal measure, and you want to shape how Generation Alpha experiences STEM, this role is for you.
The curriculum you build here will not sit in a binder. It will be taught to thousands of children every year, and soon to tens of thousands. The impact compounds. The bar is the highest in maker education.
- Curriculum Development:
Turn hands-on STEM projects into lesson plans for children ages 3 to 12, covering learning objectives, pacing, scaffolding, and differentiation across age bands. - Storytelling and Experience Design:
Wrap each project in an immersive theme (e.g., Animal worlds, Musical theater, Inventions for people with disabilities). - Hands-On Project Development:
Build and prototype STEM projects with the Fabricator team and fellow curriculum developers, including woodworking, basic electronics, Arduino, Microbits, Scratch, and more. - Teacher
Coaching:
Create training materials, deliver training at HQ, and coach teachers at campsites during the summer with real-time feedback and classroom support. - Operations Translation and Documentation:
Coordinate with the team that packs materials, hires teachers, and runs venues; ensure meticulous documentation to prevent missing materials or unclear instructions. - Quality Control:
Pilot lessons, gather feedback, and iterate to ensure lessons are fail-proof before deployment.
- Teaching and Curriculum Background:
You have designed curriculum and taught it. - Hands-On STEM Maker:
You can build with woodworking, basic electronics (circuits, motors), Arduino, Raspberry Pi or Microbits, and coding tools like Scratch. A portfolio of projects is expected, though you do not need to be a master fabricator. - Coding knowledge is a strong plus.
- On the Ground in Summer:
You will be at campsites across NYC during the summer season, not behind a screen. - Communication-First:
You can write a 10-page teacher guide, record a 60-second video walkthrough, and give live feedback mid-lesson. - Child Development Insight:
You understand how a 4-year-old’s project differs from a 10-year-old’s, and you design and coach accordingly.
Join Our Vision:
