Assistant to Course Instructor

Position Summary

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as an Assistant to Course Instructor.

Per Session Assistants to Course Instructors assist CAMS Course Instructors at the New York University College of Arts and Sciences. They support CAMS Course Instructors in implementing the curriculum and provide supervision and instructional support to students through weekly recitation sessions and assistance with their achievement outside of the classroom.

All Assistants work under the direct supervision of the CAMS Course Instructor and the Director of Undergraduate Studies for CAMS, Jess P. Shatkin, MD, MPH.

• Regularly communicate with the course instructor, and with the CAMS coordinator and CAMS Department Director as needed.
• Commit to conducting a weekly 75‑minute recitation session, which supplements a semester‑long NYU undergraduate lecture class.
• Provide opportunities for student advisement and office hours.
• Perform managerial, organizational, and instructional tasks as the instructor sees fit.
• Assist with grading of assignments and exams and manage correspondence, attendance, and the course Blackboard website.
• Communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.

Completion of all required credits needed to obtain an undergraduate degree. Extensive academic experience in psychology or related areas and substantial knowledge of the subject matter taught.

Advanced terminal graduate degree (e.g., M.F.A., M.P.H., M.S.W., etc.).

Salary range: $20.00 - $20.00 hourly. Actual salaries depend on experience, specialty, education, and hospital need.
