Instructional Support Assistant
Provide instructional supports to students under the supervision of a certified teacher;
Provide the teacher with information that will assist the teacher with the development of appropriate learning experiences;
Utilize special skills and abilities by assisting in instructional programs in special areas (e.g. foreign language, arts, crafts, music, etc.);
Assist students in the use of available resources and in the development of instructional materials. Examples of duties include: reteach lessons prepared and developed by the teacher; assist students with behavioral/management needs; assist with physical care tasks and health related activities as appropriate; assist with daily classroom setup/preparation as directed by the teacher; help students navigate the school environment; review previous lessons and concepts previously taught by the teacher;
collect various student data as directed by the teacher (e.g. behavior intervention plans, IEP goals, classroom management system, etc.); assist students in the use of assistive technology/instructional resources; working with individual or groups of pupils on special instructional assignments; become familiar with the student(s) IEP; communicate effectively with teacher and necessary staff members; foster student independence.
