RESOURCE TEACHER

DEPARTMENT: Special Education

CLASSIFICATION: Certified

REPORTS TO: Building Principal & Director of Student Services

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Full‑Time. Salary and Benefits are based on the collective bargaining agreement.

EVALUATION: MTSS Interventionists are evaluated by the director of curriculum & instruction or the building principal. Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board of Education's policy on the Evaluation of Professional Personnel, developed pursuant to State law.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with an endorsement in learning behavior specialist 1 or equivalent
  • Knowledge of IDEA, Section 504, and ISBE special education policies and procedures
  • Experience working with students with a range of disabilities in resource and inclusive settings
  • Strong instructional, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative educational team
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Demonstrate support for the mission, beliefs, and goals of MSD
    114
  • Provide direct instruction in academic and/or functional skill areas to students with disabilities in a resource or inclusive setting
  • Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs in accordance with IDEA and ISBE regulations
  • Modify curriculum and adapt instructional materials and strategies to meet diverse student needs
  • Collect and analyze data to monitor student progress and inform instructional planning
  • Collaborate with general education teachers to support inclusive practices and ensure student access to the general education curriculum
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, including IEPs, progress reports, and documentation of services
  • Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress, concerns, and goals
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, IEP meetings, and professional learning communities
  • Support implementation of behavior intervention plans and positive behavior supports, when applicable
  • Maintain compliance with timelines and procedures for evaluation, eligibility, and service delivery
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to remain current with best practices in special education
  • Assumes responsibility for other duties as may be assigned by director of special education or the building principal
