Skill crush is seeking an engaging and knowledgeable Live Instructor to support a cohort of scholarship students enrolled in the Break Into Tech AI Developer Program, a beginner-friendly training program designed to help adult learners launch careers in technology.
This role is ideal for someone who combines strong technical expertise with a passion for teaching. As the Live Instructor, you will facilitate weekly in-person sessions, answer student questions, lead technical demonstrations, and help learners build confidence as they progress through the curriculum.
While students complete structured online coursework independently throughout the week, you will serve as a trusted guide, helping connect concepts, clarify challenges, and foster an inclusive and supportive learning environment.

About the ProgramThe Break Into Tech AI Developer Program is a workforce development initiative designed to help new‑to‑tech learners build foundational web development skills while exploring modern AI tools and technologies.
Students progress through structured online lessons covering front‑end and back‑end development, programming fundamentals, web applications, databases, and AI‑powered development workflows. Weekly live sessions provide opportunities for hands‑on practice, technical demonstrations, collaborative learning, and real‑time support.
Expected Time CommitmentThis is a part‑time freelance engagement with an estimated commitment of approximately 6.5 hours per week throughout the program.
The anticipated time allocation includes:
- Weekly live instruction: 3 hours onsite every Friday
- Lesson preparation and session review:
Approximately 3.5 hours per week (remote) - Instructor onboarding and training:
Approximately 15-20 hours before program launch (remote)
The total estimated commitment for the duration of the program is approximately 183 hours, including live instruction, preparation time, and onboarding.
Schedule and location- This is an in‑person position based in New York City.
- The instructor must be available onsite at Civic Hall (124 E 14th St, New York, NY 10003) every Friday from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM for the duration of the program.
- Program dates:
September 18, 2026 – March 26, 2027 - Lesson plans, instructional materials, and onboarding support will be provided in advance.
- Facilitate weekly live sessions for a cohort of approximately 15 adult learners
- Guide students through instructional content, technical concepts, tutorials, and hands‑on exercises
- Lead live coding demonstrations and technical walkthroughs
- Support students as they build and expand project‑based assignments
- Host open Q&A discussions and troubleshoot technical challenges in real time
- Reinforce key concepts from the self‑paced curriculum
- Foster an inclusive, encouraging, and engaging classroom environment
- Help students build confidence as they progress through the program
We're looking for candidates with hands‑on experience across some or all of the following technologies:
- Semantic HTML and responsive CSS
- JavaScript fundamentals
- React.js, including Hooks Git and Git Hub
- Python
- Flask
- OpenAI APIs
- Lang Chain
- SQL databases
- Pinecone
- Retrieval‑Augmented Generation (RAG) concepts and implementations
- Experience teaching, mentoring, coaching, or facilitating learning for adult learners
- Ability to explain technical concepts clearly to beginner‑level audiences
- Strong verbal communication and presentation skills
- Experience creating supportive and inclusive learning environments
- Ability to adapt instruction based on varying student skill levels and learning styles
- Strong interpersonal skills, patience, and empathy
