Live Out, Part Time, Tutor

A family based between the Upper East Side and Upper West Side is seeking a warm, experienced, and highly attuned Tutor to work one-on-one with their elementary-aged son. The role is split between two homes. The goal is to support his academic development while strengthening confidence, emotional regulation, focus, and a genuine sense of curiosity and engagement with learning. The child is bright, sensitive, and benefits from a thoughtful balance of structure and flexibility.

He responds best to a calm, relational approach that integrates movement, creativity, and moments of reset into the learning process.

• Provide individualized instruction in reading, writing, and math.
• Use engaging, multi-sensory teaching strategies to support attention and retention.
• Help develop executive functioning skills such as organization, task initiation, and staying on track.
• Implement consistent routines and positive behavior strategies, breaking down tasks into manageable steps.
• Communicate regularly with parents about progress and challenges.
• Coordinate with the school or therapists if needed to maintain consistency.

• Experience working with children with learning differences.
• Background in special education, education, psychology, or a related field.
• Patient, calm, and able to provide structure without rigidity while creatively adapting lessons to keep a young child engaged.
• Teaching certification or special education training.
• Familiarity with executive functioning coaching strategies.
• Experience with early elementary school curriculums.

Monday‑Friday (after‑school hours).

$70‑$100/hour based on experience.
