Position: Inclusion Support Coach (12 month) - Highbridge Elementary
Location: New York

Reporting to the Dean of Student Life, the Inclusion Support Coach will be responsible for supporting youth and staff with crisis intervention and behavior management support, to support students’ full participation in all program activities.

The Inclusion Support Coach will work closely with the Dean of Student Life to directly support students requiring extra support. They should be able to monitor students and manage their continuous progress through data collection and observation and provide information, support and training to students in need.

Responsibilities
  • Provide proactive behavior management, crisis intervention, and de-escalation support to youth, maintaining a safe, inclusive, and positive program environment.
  • Serve as a positive role model by modeling professionalism, encouraging positive culture, and reinforcing appropriate behavior and social-emotional skills.
  • Implement and monitor individualized behavior intervention plans, alternative schedules, and support strategies to meet the needs of individual youth.
  • Collaborate with site leadership, teachers, youth workers, operations staff, and families to address youth needs, resolve conflicts, and ensure consistent implementation of behavior support plans and protocols.
  • Design and deliver training and ongoing coaching to support staff professional development related to youth behavior, engagement, and classroom management.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to youth behavior, interventions, progress monitoring, and implementation of support plans.
  • Assist in communicating with parents and guardians regarding youth behavior, interventions, progress, and behavioral responses or consequences.
  • Support youth learning and engagement by providing individualized assistance, reinforcing lessons, and facilitating participation in program activities.
  • Mediate conflicts and respond effectively to behavioral challenges, utilizing established behavior protocols, functional communication strategies, and counseling techniques.
  • Supervise youth throughout program hours to ensure safety, engagement, and adherence to program expectations.
  • Serve as a substitute youth worker or provide direct program support as needed to ensure continuity of operations.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development, coaching, team meetings, and required trainings to strengthen program quality and effectiveness.
  • Contribute positively to overall program operations and perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required;
  • Associate’s degree, completion of at least 60 college credits, current college enrollment, or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Para Pro certification strongly preferred.
  • Child Development Associate (CDA) credential and/or coursework in early childhood education, human development, special education, or a related field strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with youth in grades K–8 in educational, youth development, after-school, or community-based settings required.
  • Experience supporting students with behavioral challenges, special education needs, autism spectrum disorders, and/or individualized behavior plans strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated success facilitating and managing groups of youth using positive behavior management and youth development practices.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with youth, families, colleagues, and community partners.
  • Excellent organizational, documentation, time-management, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Demonstrated commitment to serving a diverse student population, maintaining high professional and ethical standards, and supporting DREAM’s mission that all students can succeed.
