Your Department

The Center for Education Advocacy (CEA) operates at the intersection of Jewish advocacy and education transformation, working to create inclusive K‑12 and higher education spaces resilient against antisemitism. The center focuses on higher education and campus affairs, K‑12 education and leadership development, and education policy and legislative advocacy.

Your Impact

This part‑time position involves approximately 10 hours of work per month and requires a deep understanding of Jewish history, especially in areas such as antisemitism, Israeli history, the Arab‑Israeli conflict, and Jewish advocacy. The educator will work collaboratively with regional office and national team members to help improve the Leaders for Tomorrow (LFT) program, facilitating engaging and informative sessions that encourage critical thinking and dialogue.

Your Role

Position Responsibilities:

• Facilitate in‑person interactive sessions for program participants, customizing and delivering lessons as needed.
• Deliver engaging presentations, workshops, and discussions on Jewish history and related topics.
• Collaborate with AJC colleagues and external partners to enhance program content and delivery.
• Receive monthly check‑ins from AJC national staff for feedback and professional development.
• Participate in community engagement events, including the LFT Facilitators Retreat and LFT Participant Summit in Washington, DC.
• Possibly add extra hours with prior approval for speaking engagements, partner activities, or special events.
• Term: 7 months.

Time Commitment:

3–5 hours/month in summer and fall for interviews and operational support.

8–10 hours/month (November to May): preparing lesson materials, facilitating monthly cohorts, communicating with parents and students, attending retreats and summits.

All contractors must participate in AJC‑mandated trainings.

Supervisory Role

Small office/team of 1–3.

Education, Training, and Experience

Bachelor’s degree (Jewish Studies, Education, History, or related field preferred).

3–4 years of experience as an educator in formal or informal settings, focusing on Jewish history, antisemitism, Israeli history, the Arab‑Israeli conflict, or Jewish advocacy.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Strong knowledge of Jewish history, culture, and contemporary issues.

Excellent communication and presentation skills, able to engage diverse audiences and facilitate meaningful discussion.

Alignment with AJC’s mission and diplomatic style, including knowledge and passion for Israel, world Jewry, human rights, and international relations.

Experience with developmental pedagogy, classroom management, curriculum development, and engagement.

Commitment to inclusivity, diversity, and a respectful learning environment.

Familiarity with AJC’s mission, values, and programs.

Physical Demands

Stationary position, sitting or standing for prolonged periods; repeating motions; communicating with others; moving around as needed.

Hourly rate: $50–$55, depending on experience and location.
