Village Community School seeks to hire a per diem Lower School Trumpet Teacher for 4th Grade and 5th Grade

Start Date:

August 31, 2026

Pay: $90 per 45-minute class

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Trumpet Instructor teaches group classes for 4th and 5th grade students during the school day. The ideal candidate has experience working with groups of children in this age range in a school or other educational setting and possesses strong classroom management skills. Successful candidates are skilled at building positive relationships with students and creating an engaging, structured, and inclusive learning environment that fosters musical growth and confidence.

  • Teach weekly group trumpet classes for 4th and 5th grade students. (Thursdays from 2-3:30)
  • Develop students' foundational trumpet technique, music literacy, and performance skills.
  • Create a positive and well-managed classroom environment that supports student engagement and learning.
  • Build meaningful relationships with students that encourage musical growth, collaboration, and a love of learning.
  • Differentiate instruction to support students with varying levels of experience and proficiency.
  • Prepare students for school performances and celebrations of learning.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers and school staff to support student growth and the goals of the music program.
  • Maintain attendance records and communicate regularly with parents, caregivers, and school liaisons regarding student progress and program updates.
  • Lead grade-level "Look Inside" parent events in late spring that showcase student learning and proficiency.
