Information Technology Instructor

OVERVIEW

The Information Technology Instructor reports to the Associate Director of Academics and teaches core computer applications and network support. The curriculum emphasizes collaborative learning, curiosity-driven projects, and professional development. Instructors guide students in professional behavior, build confidence, and advise them on future career choices.

• Lead Information Technology courses for approximately 20 students daily using a college‑level curriculum.
• Create high‑quality, student‑driven, project‑based classes that are engaging and challenging.
• Provide guidance for self‑directed learning and one‑on‑one tutoring outside of class.
• Maintain classroom management consistent with the Year Up United behavior model.
• Collaborate with other instructors to refine and document the IT curriculum.
• Develop and use assessment tools to measure student learning, growth, and transition readiness.
• Ensure students’ communication and professional skills meet the expectations of internship and university partners.
• Participate in curriculum planning, weekly academic team meetings, and professional development workshops.
• Coach and mentor a small cohort of students and occasionally facilitate group sessions.

• Required:
  
  Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Alternative:
  Bachelor’s degree in a non‑technical field plus relevant industry certification (A+, MCSE, etc.). Master’s degree preferred.
• 1–3 years teaching experience; additional industry or corporate training experience is a plus.
• 1+ years teaching or working with urban youth preferred.
• Interest in progressive, hands‑on, interactive learning environments.
• Project management experience with attention to detail.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, teamwork, organizational, and time‑management skills.
• Technical literacy required; strong technical literacy a plus.
• Experience with curriculum design, syllabus development, lesson planning, and student assessment.
• Experience with e‑learning and blended learning preferred.
• Proficiency with Learning Management Systems (e.g., Schoology, Moodle, Sakai) and virtual video tools (e.g., Second Life, Adobe Connect) preferred.
• Passion for working with urban young adults and commitment to Year Up United’s mission.

Employees start January 5, 2026, and are expected to work on‑site at least two days per week (Monday through Thursday, depending on job requirements). Candidates must reside in a state where Year Up United operates or in an approved proximate state:
Connecticut, Indiana, New Hampshire, New Jersey, South Carolina, and Virginia.

Salary Range: $55,000 – $67,000. #LI-Hybrid – refers to a hybrid work arrangement.

Benefits include comprehensive health and dental coverage, 401(k) match, and three weeks paid vacation in the first year (four weeks after the first year). This position is exempt and salaried.
