A full-time English Ministries Assistant Pastor will be responsible for overseeing and providing pastoral leadership in all aspects of youth ministries as well as other responsibilities in the broader ministry of CEMC-M.
Qualified candidates must have a love for youth ministries, and a pastoral heart to see them grow and become devoted followers of Jesus Christ. In addition to this focus, the Assistant Pastor will have general pastoral duties within the broader congregation including preaching, teaching, discipling, and evangelism. This position reports directly to the English Ministry Pastor of CEMC-M.
Responsibilities Youth MinistriesResponsibilities shall include, but not be limited to, the development, implementation, and coordination of ministries and programs within the scope of the youth ministry of CEMC-M. The pastor shall participate in the recruitment and training of volunteer youth advisors; implement discipleship and mentoring programs with the youth; coordinate with other church staff, lay leaders, and co-workers to enable the youth ministry to operate with effectiveness and efficiency.
Current youth ministries include Sunday Jr. Church, Youth Sunday School, Friday Night Youth Fellowship, After School Program and summer VBS program.
- Responsible for teaching and preaching at Sunday Jr. Church and Friday Night Youth Fellowship programs.
- Cultivate relationships with parents and partner with them to serve and equip the youth.
- Participate in youth related events and activities.
- Keep abreast of cultural trends relevant to the youth.
- Direct and lead annual getaway weekend and service opportunities for youth.
- Develop and implement outreach programs in our community.
- Work outside of office hours as needed (occasional Saturdays).
- Support and serve at church-wide initiatives and other events as required.
- Participate in pastoral staff meetings and monthly Church Board meetings.
- Bachelor’s degree in Christian ministry or its equivalent from an accredited Christian college or seminary required. Master’s degree in ministry (or in progress/anticipated) preferred.
- Ministry experience in working with middle school and/or high school youths.
- Alignment with CEMC-M Statement of Faith.
- Relational and team-based approach to leadership and ministries.
- Good teaching and communication skills.
- Humble, teachable, joyful spirit and good sense of humor.
- Ability to relate with congregants of various backgrounds.
- Understands that church ministry needs to be flexible and sometimes does not fit neatly in a job description.
