Remuneration: $960 per lecture hour / $860 per lab hour.

General Description

SUNY Niagara requires a part‑time Music Instructor for its Foundations of Music Theory course. This introductory course is taught in person in a classroom on the Sanborn, NY campus. Topics include melodic and rhythmic notation, clefs, scales, key signatures, principles of rhythm, and chord symbols. The course is recommended for non‑music majors or students without prior music experience. It is typically offered during Fall and Spring semesters.

  • Teach the course on campus.
  • Track attendance as required.
  • Report student learning outcomes at semester end.
  • Report final grades at semester end.
Essential Functions

Ability to work with, and teach a diverse student population; speak publicly to groups; communicate effectively with students, colleagues, supervisors, and the campus community; develop, prepare, and present instructional material; operate a computer; perform physical duties required by the position and adjust for ADA provisions.

Required Qualifications
  • At least three years of teaching experience at a high school or college level.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree in Music or a related field.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office (Excel and Word).
  • Experience with the Brightspace learning management system.
