The College and Career Readiness Teacher works primarily with 11th graders to deliver the College and Career Readiness (CCR) course. The teacher prepares juniors for the SAT, explains college and career application steps, teaches SAT strategy and content, and covers college admissions standards, finding the right career match, and personal statement writing. The teacher assists the Manager in planning and executing mock and official SAT exams and motivates students to meet individualized growth goals on the SAT.

Reports to the Manager of College and Career Readiness.

• Plan and instruct lessons focused on College Knowledge, Career Success, socio-emotional learning, and SAT instruction in Math and Evidence-Based Reading & Writing (EBRW).
• Differentiating and aligning daily instruction based on data
• Assist with after-school and summer SAT Prep classes
• Support the Student College and Career Ambassador Program
• Infuse joy and a passion for excellence into the junior CCR course
• Motivate and engage students and families in the CCR course and college entrance exams through relationship building and communication
• Maintain grades and attendance in Power School for students
• Assist with mock and official exams on five Saturdays throughout the year
• Plan and chaperone a junior college trip
• Teach an Advisory class of up to 15 students
• Support a team of college counselors working with juniors by monitoring the classroom and providing assistance as needed
• Engage in weekly PLC meetings, contribute to agendas, analyze data, and participate in solutions
• Pursue ongoing professional development with the Manager of CCR
• Assess student progress and communicate results to families and colleagues
• Assist the Manager of CCR with projects as they arise
• Model the school’s values in all communications

• Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
• Willingness to learn and accept feedback
• Entrepreneurial spirit and readiness to contribute to a growing team, with responsibility for ensuring high college matriculation rates
• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year institution
• Minimum of three years of relevant work experience, preferably with large groups of students

Compensation and Benefits: KIPP NYC offers a competitive salary range of $70,829 – $136,704. Salaries are determined using an equitable compensation scale considering experience, NYS certification, and longevity within the KIPP network. Hiring considers years of experience, certification, and longevity at the point of hire to determine salary level.
