Overview
Lead After school Group Leader position at East Side House Settlement.
Location:
Morris Park Haven, Bronx 10461. This is a seasonal part-time role, non-exempt, reporting to the After school Director. Salary: $22.00 per hour.
- Identify, create, and facilitate age-appropriate, thematic-based lesson plans and activities.
- Collaborate with a team to support specialists implementing activities.
- Prepare the learning environment by creating a welcoming space that showcases participants’ work.
- Build positive relationships with youth and adults, modeling professional demeanor and communication.
- Ensure health, safety, and well-being of participants by closely supervising activities.
- Assist with participant enrollment, daily attendance records, and submission of required documents to the program director.
- Inspect facilities, equipment, and supplies daily; secure and organize materials at day 's end.
- Demonstrate commitment to leadership development, community building, and community organizing as strategies for social change.
- Organize storage areas and manage materials, equipment, and tools to prevent loss and streamline distribution/collection.
- Maintain accurate program documentation (e.g., incident/accident/behavior reports, attendance and sign-in/out sheets).
- Understand and communicate the East Side House Settlement mission and Compass program goals to participants and community members.
- Participate in professional development activities, including supervision, team meetings, pre-service training, and required paid training. Demonstrate initiative, teamwork, preparedness, professionalism, reliability, and continued improvement.
- Assist in organizing and participating in external events to promote the Agency’s mission and cultivate relationships.
- Adhere to all ESH policies, practices, and procedures.
- Perform other tasks as directed.
- Minimum High School Diploma or GED required; some college preferred.
- Experience working with elementary-age students in diverse urban communities preferred.
- Minimum of two years of related work experience.
- Strong communication, organizational skills, good judgment, and ability to work in a team. Ability to engage and lead activities in your area of specialty.
- Skills in foreign languages, visual arts, music, or performing arts encouraged to apply.
- Ability to communicate effectively with participants while remaining professional; motivate students and model responsibility, timeliness, organization, and professionalism.
- Adaptability to changing circumstances. Bilingual abilities are a plus.

This is a seasonal part-time position, up to 35 hours. Flexible schedule a plus. Workdays/hours are subject to change based on ESH needs. Professional development and staff meetings are required. Summer hours: 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM, Monday – Friday.

This role has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work EnvironmentProfessional school environment. Routine use of standard office equipment (computers, phones, copiers, filing cabinets, etc.).
TravelLocal travel for trips and scatter sites.
Physical DemandsRegularly communicates with others; position is generally sedentary with some filing and site visits. May require lifting, bending, or standing on a stool as needed. Reasonable accommodations will be provided.
