Student Accounts Counselor – Student Health Insurance Focus

Position Summary

The Student Accounts Counselor will provide high-quality service to students and families in all matters related to student billing, payment plans, and especially student health insurance. This role serves as the key liaison for student health insurance inquiries and ensures compliance with institutional and regulatory requirements. The position will primarily work at the Wilf and Beren campuses, with the possibility of remote work one day per week during the school year and 3–4 days per week during breaks.

This key position is part of the senior leadership team of the Office of Student Accounts and reports to the University Director of Student Finance and the Director of Student Accounts.

• Serve as the main point of contact for all student health insurance matters.
• Assist students with enrollment and waivers related to the student health insurance plan.
• Coordinate with the insurance broker/provider to ensure accurate and timely processing of student insurance data.
• Participate in annual reviews of insurance plans, including rate negotiations and benefit updates.
• Educate students and families about health insurance requirements and options.
• Process student account transactions, including tuition payments, refunds, and adjustments.
• Counsel students on payment plans, account holds, and financial obligations.
• Collaborate with other departments (e.g., Student Aid, Registrar, Health Services) to ensure seamless student support.
• Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with FERPA and HIPAA regulations.

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Higher Education, or related field.
• 2+ years of experience in student accounts, financial services, or health insurance administration.
