Substitute NYSOP Academic Advisor (aHEO) - 400141 Position Details

The NYSOP Academic Advisor at Kingsborough Community College will report to the Director or his/her Designee.

• Provide outreach to students ages 25‑55 as per the NYSOP and CUNY criteria
• Coordinate with the Division of Enrollment Management to onboard NYSOP eligible students
• Link NYSOP students to campus resources in a coordinated manner to ensure retention and persistence
• Utilize student success platforms such as Navigate and TRex to support students and advise them of transfer and employment opportunities
• This position is subject to an availability of funding

The Substitute Assistant to the Higher Education Officer (aHEO) for the New York State Opportunity Promise (NYSOP) will serve a six‑month position that plays a critical role in ensuring compliance with state regulations, supporting student success, and managing the day‑to‑day operations of the NYSOP program within the area of interest.

• Bachelor's Degree required.

Provides academic counseling and planning services to a diverse student population.

• Assists students with clarifying values and goals; counsels students regarding educational options, requirements, policies and procedures.
• Offers academic and personal support to guide students through the course selection process
• Provides students with effective and timely referral to other college and external support services
• Monitors and evaluates students’ educational progress by conducting academic progress audits
• Establishes and maintains student files, databases and records; prepares activity reports and analyzes
• May specialize in providing advice on specific programs or to specific student groups
• Performs related duties as assigned.

Base Salary: $59,444
