Position: World Language Teacher (Spanish)
Location: Southampton

World Language (Spanish) Teacher

Southampton Union Free School District is seeking a collaborative, engaging, and student-centered World Language (Spanish) Teacher for Southampton Intermediate School.

The successful candidate will be passionate about developing students who are bilingual, biliterate, and bicultural in Spanish. The teacher will support the District's vision of advancing New York State's Seal of Biliteracy by providing high-quality instruction to students participating in both the International Spanish Academy (ISA) program and the District's non-ISA Spanish pathways.

The ideal candidate is comfortable teaching Spanish and Spanish Language Arts to middle school students and possesses a strong understanding of curriculum, assessment, and instructional best practices.

In accordance with the Southampton Teachers Association (STA) Agreement.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging, standards-based Spanish instruction to middle school students.
  • Teach Spanish and Spanish Language Arts courses for students participating in the International Spanish Academy (ISA) and non-ISA Spanish programs.
  • Advance student proficiency in speaking, listening, reading, and writing in Spanish.
  • Support students in achieving the New York State Seal of Biliteracy.
  • Prepare students for Checkpoint A, Checkpoint B, and DELE assessments administered by the District.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop curriculum, assessments, and instructional practices that support student success.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
  • Foster an inclusive, engaging, and culturally responsive classroom environment.
  • Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Building Principal.
