Job DescriptionAmplify Caminos is an authentic Spanish language arts program designed for Spanish literacy development. Flexible across transitional, dual-language, and immersion programs, it pairs with Amplify CKLA to deliver a complete, research-based K-2 biliteracy solution.
Amplify is seeking an Instructional Coach for Literacy with a background in teaching, coaching and/or school leadership to join our Professional Development (PD) team as a Fixed-Term employee for New York City Public Schools for the school year.
The Instructional Coach will design and lead professional development for school district teachers, administrators and/or instructional leaders across the district utilizing Amplify's Spanish Literacy products. The Instructional Coach's primary responsibilities will be supporting educator learning related to instruction, assessment, data use, and early literacy skills in order to increase student achievement.
Essential ResponsibilitiesThe Instructional Coach will support educators on-site up to four days a week with the fifth day dedicated to planning and preparing to meet the needs of educators. This position will follow NYCPS's district calendar.
- Lead professional learning around Amplify Caminos and mCLASS Lectura.
- Work with groups of educators in schools and districts to enhance implementation, set goals, and plan literacy instruction, based on assessment and implementation data.
- Facilitate trainings for groups of up to 150 teachers and/or leaders.
- Support school leaders in interpreting implementation health, identified areas of need, and planning for school and classroom supports accordingly.
- Observe teacher practice and provide feedback to individual teachers.
- Collaborate with the Amplify team working in the district.
- Communicate thoughtfully and proactively with school and district contacts.
- Consult with and provide school and district contacts with recommendations on how to best support educators using Amplify's Spanish literacy products.
- Design and communicate strategic supports to educators at key times of the year.
- Support NYCPS parent and community communication regarding the implementation.
- Participate in Amplify coaching meetings and internal trainings.
- Support Amplify's internal team with the design of standard and custom PD projects.
- Delivery of remote or in-person training for national customers.
All of the above may occur in English or Spanish, depending on customer needs.
Minimum Qualifications- Fluent in Spanish (including speaking, reading, and writing) and able to deliver trainings in Spanish.
- Demonstrated experience teaching foundational skills (phonological/phonemic awareness, phonics and fluency) with Science of Reading aligned, high quality instructional materials.
- 3+ years experience leading sustained coaching engagements and professional development for educators in K-5.
- 7+ years of K-5 classroom literacy teaching experience, leading to demonstrable results for students.
- Experience in a dual language or bilingual educational setting working directly in both English and Spanish.
- Experience working on collaborative projects with leaders and teachers.
- Experience analyzing data and using it to inform practice.
- Proven efficacy in time management while managing multiple engagements and competing priorities.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated proficiency in the use of technology-based productivity tools including Microsoft and Google Applications.
- Able to commute using public transportation or a personal vehicle (approximately 5 days per week) to schools in New York City.
- Experience using or supporting Amplify Caminos.
- Ability to support teachers in a remote learning environment, if needed.
- Able to navigate instruction with different Learning Management Systems (Schoology, Clever, Google Classroom, etc.).
- Knowledge of Amplify CKLA, mCLASS and/or Boost/Boost Lectura a plus.
- Master's or advanced degree in education.
