Salary Range: $38.00 - $39.00 per hour
The Adult Literacy Program provides ESOL classes to immigrant adults in New York City.
Responsibilities- Teach and monitor ESOL classes
- Assign daily homework and give tests and writing assignments as required by the program
- Teach basic computer skills and regularly use technology in the classroom
- Regularly use class texts and supplemental materials
- Maintain attendance and performance records
- Follow and enforce program policies and rules
- Attend a minimum of 14 hours of RAEN-approved professional development as required by the NYSED and program
- Attend staff meetings
- Read and respond to emails from director, assistant director, and head teacher using University Settlement email account
- Complete bi-weekly online time sheet
- B.A. Degree in TESOL, English or related field, or TESOL certificate
- Two years’ experience in teaching ESOL
- Experience with online teaching including Zoom (or similar video conferencing platform) and G Suite
This is a grant-funded position with a term of 7 months, beginning in August and ending in March. There is the potential for renewal based on continued funding and approval from the grant sponsor.
Work SchedulePart time, Monday – Thursday with two shifts available from 9:00am – 12:00pm or 1:00pm – 4:00pm, 17 hours per week.
