Japanese Preschool Teacher Assistant

We are looking for a part‑time Preschool Teacher Assistant to join our Japanese Saturday School, specifically in the 3 year‑old program for the 2026‑2027 School Year and starting August 29th, 2026.

This role will be from 8:00 am – 3:00 pm on Saturdays (with 30 minute break) and reports into the Japanese Saturday School Director.

The ideal candidate will be compassionate and self‑motivated as well as possessing an innate joy of working with young children. He/she will be devoted to building a nurturing and safe learning environment.

• Assisting teachers with lesson preparation by getting materials ready and setting up equipment
• Working with the lead teacher to monitor the class schedule
• Going over lesson material with students individually or in small groups
• Ensuring the classroom environment is safe, clean and tidy
• Overseeing students during non‑classroom times including in‑between classes, during lunch, recess, and on‑field excursions
• Collaborating with lead teachers to recognize issues students are facing and recommend solutions
• Helping lead teachers to create lesson plans
• During camps, participating as an Lead Teacher
• Complying with state, school, and class rules and regulations.
• Attending all training classes, parent conferences, and faculty meetings

• High school diploma or equivalent qualification
• Bachelor’s degree in education or relevant field is preferred
• Japanese fluency required
• A minimum of 2 years experience as a teaching assistant or similar role
• Solid understanding of classroom activities and teaching best practices
• Must have a compassionate and positive attitude
• Outstanding interpersonal and presentation abilities
• Preferred candidate will have a current U.S. work visa, if applicable

This role is paid at $28.52 per hour.
