Position: English Language Arts (ELA) Tutor Opportunities
Location: New York

Location: On-site at partner schools or community locations (varies by assignment).
Schedule: Typically 1–4 instructional hours per week, primarily after school.
Program Length: Approximately 8–10 weeks per assignment.
Start Date: Rolling opportunities based on school partner schedules.
Compensation: Starting at $50+ per instructional hour, varying by assignment, qualifications, experience, location, scheduling, and other factors.

Overview

Concorde Education seeks knowledgeable and engaging English tutors to provide after‑school academic support at partner schools. These programs help students strengthen reading, writing, vocabulary, grammar, communication, and overall literacy skills through structured, supportive instruction designed to build confidence and academic success.

Responsibilities
  • Provide engaging, age‑appropriate tutoring for individual students or small instructional groups.
  • Deliver structured lessons using approved curriculum, provided instructional materials, or assignment‑specific learning objectives.
  • Differentiate instruction to accommodate varying student abilities, learning styles, and academic needs.
  • Foster a positive, encouraging learning environment that promotes confidence and academic growth.
  • Monitor student participation and progress through ongoing observation and informal assessment.
  • Communicate professionally with designated school personnel and Concorde Education representatives regarding attendance, scheduling, and program needs.
  • Follow all applicable school policies, site procedures, safety expectations, and emergency protocols.
  • Arrive prepared and on time for scheduled instructional sessions.
Qualifications
  • At least 60 completed college credits (or equivalent relevant educational or instructional experience).
  • Strong English language arts knowledge appropriate for the assigned grade level.
  • Experience teaching, tutoring, mentoring, or supporting school‑age students.
  • Strong communication, instructional, and classroom management skills.
  • Reliable, professional, and organized work habits.
Preferred Backgrounds
  • Certified teachers and substitute teachers
  • Reading specialists and literacy educators
  • College or graduate students studying education, English, literacy, or related fields
  • Tutors and academic intervention professionals
  • Writers, editors, and communication professionals
Materials and Resources

Curriculum, instructional materials, lesson objectives, and tutoring expectations vary by assignment. Some programs provide established instructional resources, while others allow tutors flexibility to use age‑appropriate instructional strategies and supplemental materials that align with assignment objectives and school expectations.

Compensation

Compensation is determined individually for each assignment and may vary based on factors such as assignment complexity, instructor qualifications, relevant experience, geographic location, scheduling considerations, specialized expertise, and school partner requirements.
