Part-Time AP History Teacher Homeschool; Students, 9th & 7th Grade in Setauket, NY

Overview

Teachers To Go is seeking an experienced History teacher to privately tutor two advanced students (a boy in 9th grade and a girl in 7th grade) in-person in Setauket, NY 11733.

Schedule:

two afternoons per week, 1:00 pm–3:00 pm, four hours per week, at the students  home. Compensation: $200 per hour, $800 per week.

• Develop and teach a customized curriculum for two students using physical books (not online), covering US, European, and World history.
• Prepare the oldest student for AP History exam (likely European history).
• Deliver engaging, traditional, classically-based instruction; present history through stories, memoirs, and historical events.
• Collaborate with parents to align curriculum with their preferences; provide regular updates.
• Assess progress and adjust instruction as needed; maintain reliable transportation to Setauket.

• Minimum BA and 5 years of professional experience teaching history; AP teaching experience required; state certification preferred.
• European history expertise preferred; experience with Classical or traditional curricula preferred.
• Ability to write or recommend a traditional customized curriculum for two students; strong presentation and storytelling skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills; reliable, engaging, and well-read.
• Must be available two afternoons per week; able to travel to Setauket, NY 11733; own transportation and cellphone.
