Position Description

Manhattan University, a Lasallian Catholic University seeks applicants for a one-year position, as Visiting Assistant Professor in Religious Studies. We are seeking a colleague who will contribute to teaching Religious Studies courses, including our required introductory course, RELS 110:
Lasallian Seminar and community engaged learning courses that are part of our James Patterson Honors Program. Applicants should have an expertise in theology or religious studies. Candidates with experience in community engaged learning and the Lasallian mission are especially welcome to apply.

• Teach a 4/4 course load in Religious Studies.
• Teach the Lasallian Seminar as part of the assigned teaching responsibilities.
• Teach one or more additional courses from the University'sReligious Studies curriculum.
• Design and deliver engaging, student-centered courses that support student learning.
• Maintain regular office hours and provide academic advising and mentoring to students.
• Assess student learning and provides timely, constructive feedback.
• Foster an inclusive, respectful, and supportive classroom environment.
• Participate in class-related community engagement activities.
• Attend and contribute to departmental meetings, lectures, andother program events.
• Collaborate with colleagues on departmental initiatives and curricular development as appropriate.
• Support the university's Lasallian mission through active engagement with students and the campus community.

• Other duties as assigned

• Ph.D. in Theology, Religious Studies, or a closely related field required by the time of appointment.
• Demonstratedexpertisein Theology, Religious Studies, or arelated discipline.
• Evidence of a strong commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching.
• Ability to teach the Lasallian Seminar, community engaged learning, and additional courses in the Religious Studies curriculum.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to the mission and values of a Lasallian Catholic institution.
