POSITION SUMMARY:

The Institute of Culinary Education (ICE) is seeking a Restaurant & Culinary Management and Culinary Arts Instructor and provide top-tier services to its students. ICE is one of America’s leading centers for culinary education and the largest culinary school in New York City and Los Angeles. The Instructor will use our curriculum to lead engaging academic and hands-on classes in both an in-person and distance education environment.

  • Deliver clear, concise and organized lectures as required by the curriculum
  • Assess student performance through observation and interaction, along with written and practical examinations
  • Maintain a positive, focused learning environment during class
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance and performance
  • Attend meetings and faculty orientation as required
  • Conductin-classroomdemonstrationsasrequiredby curriculum.
  • Deliver clear,conciseandorganizedlecturesbothin-personand online.
  • Assessstudentandfacultyperformancethroughobservationandinteraction,alongwithwritten and practical examinations.
  • Assureclassesareconductedinamannerthatcomplieswithprinciplesoffoodsafetyand sanitation.
  • Maintainaccuraterecordsofstudentattendanceand performance.
  • Attendmeetingsandfacultyorientationas required.
  • Otherdutiesas required by Manager
EXPERIENCE AND

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor’sdegreeorhigherinarelatedfield.

    Master’sdegree preferred
  • Mustpossessasolidfoundationofculinaryand/orpastry&baking knowledge,withastrong desire for continued learning
  • Minimumofseven(7) yearsculinaryexperiencewithsomesupervisory responsibilities. Fine Dining experience highly preferred.
  • College-levelteachingexperiencehighly preferred.
  • Excellentcommunicationskillsbothwrittenandverbal;strongpresentationandinterpersonal skills.
  • Demonstratedabilitytointeractinacollaborativemannerwithotherdepartmentsand teams.
  • Must have knowledge of restaurant management, concept & menu development, marketing, purchasing, food safety, service management, finance, restaurant law, human resources, wine & beverage, facilities & design and entrepreneurship (or any combination thereof).
  • Teaching or related field experience is a plus
  • Flexible schedule (weekends and evenings) to accommodate ICE class schedules.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal; strong presentation and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to interact in a collaborative manner with others.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills required
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft suite of products including Outlook, PowerPoint, Word and Excel
  • Must be able to develop and maintain excellent relationships with staff and student population
