The Director, You Tube Channel, reports to the Managing Director, Creator Partnerships, and leads the strategy, creative direction, and operational execution of the organization’s flagship You Tube presence. This role is responsible for shaping a high-impact platform-native channel that translates complex global issues into compelling, accessible storytelling for broad audiences.
Operating with significant autonomy, the Director sets channel strategy, oversees end-to-end production, and integrates data-driven insights to continuously improve performance and reach—directly supporting the organization’s mission and public engagement goals.
Pay Range$170,400 - $199,800. This represents the present low and high end of the RF Catalytic Capital pay range for this position. Actual pay will vary based on various factors, including but not limited to experience.
Work ScheduleThis role is on a hybrid work schedule and requires coming into the office on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays (when not traveling).The location is New York City.
Key Responsibilities- Define and execute the overall vision, content strategy, and growth plan for the You Tube channel
- Use performance data and audience insights to refine content formats, publishing cadence, and distribution strategy
- Establish goals, success metrics, and continuous improvement processes to increase engagement and reach
- Lead concept development, storytelling approach, and narrative structure across all video content
- Ensure content is credible, engaging, and optimized for platform-native consumption
- Guide decisions on format (e.g., host-led, narrated, hybrid) based on performance and audience behavior
- Oversee end-to-end production, including pre-production, filming, editing, and final delivery
- Develop and manage production workflows, timelines, and budgets to ensure timely, high-quality output
- Maintain production standards aligned with organizational brand, quality, and compliance requirements
- Lead and manage external partners (e.g., producers, editors, writers, designers, on-screen talent)
- Provide clear direction, feedback, and creative guidance to ensure alignment with channel goals
- Build and maintain a high-performing network of creative contributors
- Partner with internal teams to align content with organizational priorities and messaging
- Serve as a key advisor on digital storytelling and video strategy across the organization
- Communicate progress, insights, and recommendations to senior stakeholders
- Generally expected to have 10+ years of extensive experience in video production and content strategy, including demonstrated success on You Tube or similar platforms
- Deep understanding of platform dynamics, including audience retention, content packaging, and performance analytics
- Experience leading creative teams and managing external vendors or freelancers
- Strong storytelling, editorial judgment, and ability to translate complex topics into engaging narratives
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and project management skills
- Familiarity with digital media trends and emerging content formats
- Preferred experience developing content related to global issues, public policy, or mission-driven organizations
