The Systems&Technology Librarianwillbeamemberofthe Technology &Digital Initiatives(TDI) teamandreporttothe
Associate Director for Technology &Digital Initiatives(ADT).The Systems&Technology Librarianadministersthe Law Library 'ssystems,includingbothsoftwareandhardware,andwebpages,preparesreportsandassessments,andcontributestospecialtechnologyprojectstosupportinnovativeinitiativestakingplaceattheNYUSchoolof
LawincollaborationwiththeTDIteam.
Thepersonhiredinthispositionwillplayavitalroleinthefosteringofadynamicandsustainablefuturefortechnologywithinthe Law Library .
- Servesasprimaryadministratorofthe Law Librarywebsiteincollaborationwith Law ITand Communications Departments .Maintainsthewebsitepagesandcollaborateswithotherteammemberstoensurethatsitecontentisup-to-date.
Editswebpagesofotherlibrary-related systems.
- Troubleshootsaccessandfunctionalityissuesinvolvinglibraryplatforms,online resources,andrelatedsystems.
- Servesasaliaisontothe Law School ’sInformation Technology Departmentandother Departments .
- Providestrainingandsupporttolibrarians,staff,faculty,andstudentsonlibrarytechnologies,includingtheILSanddiscoverylayer.
Developsinstructionalresourcessuchasonlineguides,tutorials,andotherlearningmaterialstosupporttechnologyuseandlearning. - Worksinpartnershipwithothersteammembersonsystems-related,technology-related,and digitally-basedservicesandprojects.
- Collaborateswithcross-functionalteamstocurate,author,andregularlyupdatedynamicresearchguides(Lib Guides),ensuringalignmentwithacademiccurriculaanduserneeds.
- Fulfillsinternalandexternaldatarequestsbyretrievingmetricsfromlibrarysystems(includingtheILS),inputtingdataacrossvariousplatforms,andpreparingcustomassessmentsanddocumentation.
- Explores,implements,andsupportsAIandmachinelearninginitiativeswithinlibrarysystemstoenhanceoveralloperationsanddigitalservices.
- Keepsupwithandevaluatesnewlibrarytechnologies,stayingup-to-dateontrends,technology,and resources.
- Evaluatesandimplementssoftwareandhardwaretoenhancethe Law Library 'sservicesandoperations.
Researchesandimplementsnewtoolstoimprovethe Law Library 'soperations.
- Servicetothe Law Librarythroughparticipationoncommittees ,taskforces,workinggroupsandotherinitiativesinsupportof
Law Library'smission,goals,andstrategicinitiatives.
Thepersonhiredforthispositionwillbeclassifiedasnon-union,non-tenuretrackfaculty(Continuing Contract Faculty /Assistant Librarian of Practice ) and,afterthecompletionofaninitialcontractterm,iseligibleformulti-year contracts.
QualificationsRequired Qualifications
- Graduateddegreein Libraryor Information Sciencefroman ALA-accreditedprogramorequivalent.
- Highlevelofproficiencywithlibrary-relatedinformationtechnologyapplications.
- Significantexperiencewith Alma+Primoorotherlibrarymanagementsystemsandelectronicresourcemanagementtools.
- Familiaritywithatleastoneprogramming/markup language,suchasXML,Perl,PHP,Python,orSQL.
- Familiaritywithbuilding,maintaining,and/ortroubleshootingAPIs.
- Awarenessoftechnologytrendsinareasofresponsibility.
