FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

At Baruch College we believe that student success is everyone’s responsibility

The William Newman Department of Real Estate at Baruch College, City University of New York (CUNY), invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor position beginning in Fall 2027. We seek candidates with a strong commitment to scholarly research, excellence in teaching, and active engagement in a dynamic real estate program.

The Department offers undergraduate and graduate degree programs and maintains strong connections with the real estate industry through its location in New York City and its affiliation with the Steven L. Newman Real Estate Institute.

Baruch College, located in Manhattan’s historic Gramercy Park and Flatiron districts, provides access to the nation’s largest real estate market, major financial institutions, leading real estate firms, and a vibrant network of industry professionals. The College’s more than 19,000 students, who speak over 110 languages, have been repeatedly recognized as among the most diverse student populations in the United States.

The successful candidate will be expected to maintain an active research agenda leading to publications in leading academic journals, teach undergraduate and graduate courses in real estate and related areas across multiple instructional modalities (in-person, online, and hybrid), contribute to the Department’s academic and professional activities, and support the School’s growing portfolio of global and executive education programs.

We welcome applications from candidates in all areas of real estate research.

QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants must possess a Ph.D. in Real Estate, Finance, Economics, or a closely related discipline by the date of appointment. Successful candidates will demonstrate the ability to conduct high-quality scholarly research and publication, a commitment to excellence in teaching, and a willingness to contribute actively to the Department’s academic and professional initiatives.

Applicants at the Associate Professor level should have an established record of scholarly achievement and demonstrated potential for leadership in research, teaching, and service.

COMPENSATION

$220,000- $235,000; commensurate with qualifications and experience

The Department and College offer a supportive research environment, including access to major financial and real estate databases and research support resources.

CUNY offers faculty a competitive compensation and benefits package covering health insurance, pension and retirement benefits, paid parental leave, and savings programs. We also provide mentoring and support for research, scholarship, and publication as part of our commitment to ongoing faculty professional development.

Applicants are required to submit a CV and contact information for recommendation letters.

Applicants are required to submit a research statement and a philosophy of teaching that includes but is not limited to their commitment to and experience with teaching students in a campus environment with a substantial population of students who are among the first-generation of their family to attend a college or university
