Part Time English Instructor

Position Overview

SUNY Niagara is seeking part‑time English Instructors to teach developmental writing and first‑ and second‑year college courses (typically three lecture hours per week) during the day and/or evening hours. Instructors will teach at SUNY Niagara’s main campus in Sanborn, NY.

Remuneration for instructors teaching at least three credits in a semester is $1,008 per lecture hour or $903 per lab hour.

• Teach courses to a diverse student population
• Prepare and present course materials effectively
• Communicate clearly with students, co‑workers, supervisors, and the campus community
• Use computers and technology to deliver instruction
• Perform all physical duties required of the position

• Master’s degree in English, English Education, or a related field
• Demonstrated knowledge of current theories of composition and literature
• Experience teaching at the secondary or post‑secondary level
• Excellent written communication skills, as demonstrated by application materials

• ABD or Ph.D. in English, English Education, or Composition and Rhetoric, with extensive coursework in composition
• Experience teaching in technology‑enhanced classrooms
• Evidence of successful teaching of non‑traditional students
