Position Overview
SUNY Niagara is seeking part‑time English Instructors to teach developmental writing and first‑ and second‑year college courses (typically three lecture hours per week) during the day and/or evening hours. Instructors will teach at SUNY Niagara’s main campus in Sanborn, NY.
Remuneration for instructors teaching at least three credits in a semester is $1,008 per lecture hour or $903 per lab hour.
Responsibilities- Teach courses to a diverse student population
- Prepare and present course materials effectively
- Communicate clearly with students, co‑workers, supervisors, and the campus community
- Use computers and technology to deliver instruction
- Perform all physical duties required of the position
- Master’s degree in English, English Education, or a related field
- Demonstrated knowledge of current theories of composition and literature
- Experience teaching at the secondary or post‑secondary level
- Excellent written communication skills, as demonstrated by application materials
- ABD or Ph.D. in English, English Education, or Composition and Rhetoric, with extensive coursework in composition
- Experience teaching in technology‑enhanced classrooms
- Evidence of successful teaching of non‑traditional students
